We recover damaged kids who have been absent from mainstream education through a blended approach; 60% academic and 40% personal, social and health education programme. This only works because we 'negotiate learning'. Our teachers, rather than merely teach, ask what kids want to learn. If you've been absent from the state system, receiving little or no education, then arresting that academic decline can be achieved by engaging with and negotiating what it is that kid wants to learn about.
